C&C GDI War Factory

You can look back historically through previous Mod of the Month competitions and immediately recognise my appreciation for "model scale" mods. You know the type - cases that so intricately pay homage to a space within a game that you just have to say "wow."
Another newcomer, milotic858, has done just that with her recent build dubbed the C&C GDI War Factory (what is it with long names this month?!). The factory is designed to be a replica of the building from
Command and Conquer 3. What's that? You stopped reading because I said "her"? Yes, she's a woman. Get over it, because your jaw should be dropping at the artwork anyhow.
Initially, she was striving to be done by August - a goal that she only halfway reached. Halfway how? Well, read on to find out!
Of course, milotic858 started her job with a firm plan for what she wanted to accomplish. First, there were some screenshots - then, a full cardboard model of the final product.
Things like the crates were developed from a pattern onine (there were some issues with developing her own) that created just the look that she was hoping for.
The main form was crafted out of perspex and then painted from the inside to create the "window" effect on the sides. Other details were added using modelling tape for a thick, black line.
Parts like the crane and the ladder were made with household scraps of balsa wood and toothpicks. It's really pretty amazing what a bit of glue and some paint will make for you!
The finished product is really quite impressive, particularly considering the shaping of the model. The whole creation ties together nicely.
But wait, there's one thing missing - the PSU! Where is it? Well, in the GDI Ion Cannon, of course.
That portion of the mod is still very much in progress, and it's very much worth a trip over to milotic858's
worklog to read about.
While you head over, maybe you need to take a quick detour and
vote for the C&C GDI War Factory by milotic858 as this month's Mod of the Month!
